I’m Kirsten and welcome to my blog! I started my blog back in 2011 as a way to share my experiences and what it is like having the rare genetic brittle bone condition, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), and my perspective of life from a wheelchair. Over the years I have grown and changed as have the things I want to write about.

I like to write about a variety of different topics and try not to limit myself. For the most part, when I write I just want to share what is on my mind that day. But sometimes I’ll do specific posts about life with OI and being a wheelchair user. I love art and design and crafting, but my true passion lies in music and movies and writing. I received a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design and then received a Masters degree in Creative Writing in hopes of combining all of my passions into some sort of career. Most days though, I’m making it up as I roll along. 😉

Here’s a more detailed breakdown on each type of post:

Movie Monday (formerly What I Watched Wednesday) – Something else that I am a major fan of are movies, and TV shows, and again, I enjoy sharing that with others. I consider myself a bonafide Netflix junkie! These posts are usually reviews of a movie that I have just seen for the first time; it may not necessarily be a new release. I also like to create and share lists of current shows I’m loving, and different titles that will be coming out soon. I am not a critic; I don’t consider myself to be one, and I don’t really like reading reviews from professional critics. I do however like hearing other people’s opinions of movies but ultimately make up my own mind about it. All I do is present some background on the title and my opinion of why I liked it. If I really didn’t like the movie, I won’t write about it. Why waste time on something that you don’t like, right? There may be a few things that I don’t like about certain movies, and I’ll point those out. But if it was awful and I’ll never watch it again, I won’t review it. These posts go up most Mondays.

How Accessible Is It? – These are posts where I share if a particular attraction, business, landmark, etc. is accessible for wheelchair users. My goal is to travel to as many places as I can, even if it’s just in my own backyard; there are many cool places to visit here in Florida. So many times I’ve experienced a place that will say they are accessible but when I get there, I’ll find that they are not. These posts are strictly from my point of view as a power wheelchair user. Each individual will have their own experiences of course.

Music Monday – Every month I share my current music playlist. My taste in music is pretty varied, and it changes quite often. I love creating playlists for different moods and occasions, and enjoy sharing that with others. I always share my playlists on Spotify at the end of each post as well. These posts go up every now and then.

Retired posts I used to write more frequently but have moved away from:

Mid-Week Motivation – Sometimes we can all get into a little slump right around Hump Day. I like to find inspiration and motivation from the experiences of others. I love to search Pinterest for motivational and visual quotes. I save them in a folder on my desktop and turn to them when I need a little pick-me-up. Every month I share the ones that I have found to be helpful.

Monthly Rewind (formerly Weekly Rewind) – This is a wrap-up of the month and any interesting things that I did. I also share what I read and watched that maybe didn’t warrant an entire post. Basically it’s just a review/recap of the entire month.

And if that wasn’t enough, I also have a YouTube channel.
